Creative ingenuity and expansive vision brought RealCraft to life over thirteen years ago. Grown out of decades as a timber frame builder, founder Don Rees parlayed old-world construction methods into his clients’ one-of-a-kind swinging, sliding, and folding doors – each tailored to the location where it lives. Today our team is motivated by the same principles.

Built of solid wood, always
This means the design is the same on the interior as well as the exterior (because it’s the same piece of wood through the thickness of the door).
Handcrafted from start to finish
We employ creative, skilled artisans who use their hands to select, plane, sand, assemble, glaze and finish each door to your specifications and quality standards.
Designed & built to order
We build to your dimensions – working with our experienced designers to select wood species, glass type, and hardware. Once the design is finalized and meets your approval, we begin production.
Built to last
Our exterior doors are built using old-world construction methods – stile and rail with mortise and tenon joinery. This construction method dates back thousands of years for its strength. When installed and maintained properly – your
Real Carriage Doors will last for generations.
Mixed Wood Species
Dress up your door by pairing various door wood types onto a single design.
Custom Windows
Form follows function – we build fixed or operable windows for your door.
Sidelights
A sidelight is a stationary window and design element that is used to visually emphasize the importance of an entrance by flanking a door or larger window. Typically narrow, they are a desirable addition where light or visibility is needed.
Transom
The horizontal window unit above a door. A transom, fixed or operable, is an element that is used at a prominent entrance where privacy and security should be preserved while allowing additional light to enter the space.
Dutch Shelf
Dutch doors have, and still do, serve a practical purpose – by opening the upper portion of the door only, it allows cross ventilation through the home while keeping critters and animals out while keeping children and pets in
Dentil/Craftsman Ledge
The dentil ledge is a shallow, horizontal strip of wood over several small dentils. Dentil shelves are common in Craftsman and Arts & Crafts-inspired doors.
Panel Styles
Tongue & Groove
This panel design is composed of vertically oriented boards of wood. Joined together with a ‘tongue’ inside of a ‘groove’ creates a visible line/groove at each joint. The tongue and groove panel detail is a simple and timeless look.
RealCraft Signature: We take this simple detail a step further – a groove is cut along the edge of each board then the boards are joined together with a hardwood spline. This method adds strength to the panel.
Flat Panel
Flat panels are as simple as they sound – smooth to the touch, free from surface modifications – typical of Shaker-style doors and cabinetry.
Metal Panel
Our most common options are shown to the left. Contact us with your request. Make a statement!
Scallop Panel
The scalloped panel is our newest offering. Our skilled craftsman carves out each ‘scoop’ that reveals the wood grain’s depth, pattern, and beauty. Available for the interior and/or exterior of the door.
Leather Panel
leather can be added to a flat panel of a door and adds richness, texture, and interest. Leather is for Interior applications only. Color options are available upon request.

Kick Plate Metal Options
Copper Kick Plate
Solid Bronze Kick Plate
Brass Kick Plate
Alumnum Kick Plate
Stainless Steel Kick Plate
Kick Plates are a small detail; however a valuable addition by way of protecting and extending the life of your door. Kick Plates are installed on the ‘push’ side of the door and are usually 10-16 inches tall, depending on the coverage you want on your door.
Typically seen in businesses with heavy traffic, the door will get kicked or knocked during delivery, etc. Residential, for the modern lifestyle, it may be good to consider adding a kick plate for those times your hands are full with books, groceries, luggage, or even children – your instinct may be to kick the door open.
Beyond function, a kick plate can add a layer of interest to your door.
